you need to narrow your location down a bit, where in l.a.? we're in the valley and we occasionally ride with the sfvbc, when i'm not racing

Hi guys!

We're in the San Fernando Valley. I went to the SFVBC's website, but their email links aren't working. I contacted Jeff from MASCOTS and he said he would be willing to teach us.

JT- I saw your other post and thanks for the tip! I think we're a tad far from Long Beach, but I'm guessing the Orange Line bike path is similar (maybe not as scenic). We have friends down there so maybe we'll check it out sometime!

We have ridden our burley with the SFVBC, and have seen other tandems on their rides on occasion. The orange line is in nice shape, but the according to our GPS, we spent almost as much time waiting for the signals as we did riding. looking forward to taxes being finished so that we can go ride together again. We're in Chatsworth.

Hi Grace,

Congrats on the new tandem! It's been a while since we last rode with the MASCOTs but they are really nice people. Currently, we are riding with the Conejo Valley Cyclists (CVC) a couple of times a month. Although we're usually the only tandem, they made us feel very welcome. Contact me if you need more info.

I am new to the forum but not to riding a tandem with my wife.

Like VC Rider we are also in Moorpark (we should get together) but we ride with Channel Islands. Channel Islands has four or five tandem teams, but it seems like when we ride we are the only tandem team on that day. A few times we have been lucky and have a group of tandems pulling everyone up and back from Ventura and Santa Barbara – way fun.

A while ago Channel Islands and Conejo Valley got together for a couple of joint rides. Maybe we should try that again with a call for all tandems?

I am in Temecula and hoping to get up to the Cool Breeze this year, so maybe see you there.
My daughter Beth (8) and I ride with the Saturday morning group from Red Hawk bicycles. They're very kind and wait for us at the top...

The Cool Breeze Century or 100 K routes are very tandem friendly that would be good for you and your daughter. I will be working support on the day of the ride for the 200k brevet option which has a lot more climbing.

We are planning on going to the Great Western Bike rally with our 7 and 9 year olds. (We have two tandems - one with a stoker kid kit and the other is "ours" that we convert to fit the 9 year old.)

We did the Planet Ultra KOM last year on the tandem as training for Paris-Brest-Paris. This year we have kid's track season.

I will contact the Ride Chairman for Channel Islands to see if we can put together a tandem ride up the coast from Ventura next month. It is hard to beat riding a tandem along the coast in Ventura & Santa Barbara in the summer. Maybe we could coordinate with Conejo and San Fernando Valley? Sounds fun!

We're also thinking of doing the mini-metric at Cool Breeze this summer. I think a ride along the coast would definitely be fun! We'd be likely to join you if it's on a weekend and if we can keep up with the pace.

Yesterday we practiced riding our tandem in a parking lot yesterday. I have to say the slight downhill grade in the lot was fun yet terrifying. We're still getting used to not squirming and me not coasting whenever I feel like it

Hopefully we can get a tandem meet-up together sometime soon! It'll be fun to meet everyone!

San Diego tandem club are an active group. Allegedly they do some summer rides up in Ventura area.

It might be amusing to see if it could coordinated with them?

They are best contacted via their website or Yahoo groups list.
