Salt Lake City Tandems

Malkin and I participated in the SLC Marathon Bike Tour on our tandem yesterday morning. During the ride, we met a few tandem teams and had the thought that we might want to start at some sort of informal group to share information, rides, etc. (possibly a subset of BBTC?). Reply to this post and PM me with contact information if you're interested.

Hi,

My wife and I were bike marshals for that event yesterday. I did see some tandems, but we held towards the back, helping with flats and ill runners. We ride our tandem about 50% of the time, but yesterday we were on our singles.

BBTC (now BBC) does try to have some tandem-centric events called ULTRA (Utah league of tandem riding addicts), but they have not been too successful. Often on our regular rides a few tandem teams do show up. I'd suggest you just participate in our regular rides and enjoy the mix. Last Saturday we rode a mini-me and saw two or three (out of about 50 cyclists) tandem teams. Since we are gearing up for a tour across Nebraska, we are pretty much riding our singles, but after that you will see us out often on our Blue C'Dale. Hope we see you...

Mini-me

Malkin and I rode with you last week in the mini-me. We were the ones on the champagne-colored Burley Duet. Had a great time on the ride--turned it into our first 50+ of the year by starting and ending at our home.

We'll keep our eyes open for a blue Dale...

Cheers!

We have a pretty quick group of 4 tandems up in North Ogden, but ride local like over Sardine to Hardware Ranch, or up to Snow Basin and down Trapper's, to Tremonton, or the farm roads to west Kaysville. Heads turn seeing four fast tandems in paceline. Three of us did Lotoja last September.

Quick and Strong! I doubt we could match your speed, and I know we couldn't climb with you. We're more the touring type, but maybe we'll see you out 'n about.

Cheers!

We're planning a 40-mile flat ride for Sunday (Apr. 27) morning at 10:00 am (either out and back to the marina or out and back to North Salt Lake/Bountiful depending on mood, interest, and prevailing winds) starting at the North entrance to Liberty Park. Join us for a pleasant ride!

Cheers!
