New Bike = Stoker Crisis!!!
We got our new Co-Motion Speedster Co-Pilot yesterday. Yes, we are faster on the new bike--and better looking too!
The crisis is that the handlebars are so large that none of our current bells will fit. Malkin takes pride in her bell-ringing proficiency and would like to find a stylish and functional bell to fit the bar. Any suggestions for mods to current bell attachments or special tandem bells?
Cheers!

Gotta keep the stoker happy. I've had to solve similar problems from time to time, including adapting the Wal-Mart bell with glowing LEDs to handlebars that were too large, and the solution that works for me is to run a small ziptie through the screw holes in both ends of the clamp, connect the ends, and take up the slack. Done. Happy, glow-in-the-dark stoker. Incidentally, this solution also finds application when adapting computer sending units to aero or oversize fork blades.

Brilliant! I thought of longer bent screws, but the zip-tie is much simpler and more elegant. Stoker likes zip-ties as much as I like duct tape. This will work perfectly. Thanks.
Cheers!

Don't forget they come in COLORS, too! Color coordination is often just as important to the stoker as the object itself!
Also don't forget to pull the endplug off one of your handlebars and stick a few extra zip ties in there. There's no end to the things they can be useful for out on the road, and you'll always have a few!

Pam has given up her bell. She found something better. It's one of those compressed air horns you buy at the party stores. She uses it to repel dogs, and I've never seen anything that works better. It either scares them so badly or confuses them so much that they immediately give up chasing us. I've gotten to the point where I kind of look forward to encounters with mutts so I can laugh at their reaction!
It's also great for getting friends attention if they've dropped us too badly and we need to tell them they missed a turn!

Maybe Topeak will make a stylish air-horn that uses 16 gram CO2 cartridges and attaches conveniently to the rear top-tube for easy access by the stoker and sells for 19.95? I'd buy that...
Cheers!
