So I'm thinking that I'm in trouble for not getting the Mother's day cards in the mail while driving home. I get Deb onto the tandem and figure we've got a fair shot at getting to the mail box a few miles away before final pick-up. But even though we are cooking, the traffic lights are against us and its becomes obvious that we won't get to the post office in time. Another light turns red up the road. As we do an extended coast-down, I spot a mail delivery truck in my glasses nerd mirror. He's heading in for the day. It's warm and as we match coast-down speed/position he says howdy out his open right-hand drive window. I say "Hey, can I give you two?" He extends his arm, I quick-draw the envelopes from my jersey pocket, make the handoff, yell "Thanks!" and take the immediate right fork to get out to the farm roads. Total exchange took about 3 seconds. Deb says he got a kick out of it. We sure did. And moms will get their cards in time.
