Trek T2000 disc brake

I'm new to this forum, so I hope this hasn't already been answered. My wife & I are both road cyclists and we recently bought a T2000 tandem, which is great. I'd really like stronger braking, and the shop that we purchased it from recommended an Avid BB7. The problem is, they cannot locate some kind of threaded axle adaptor. Has anyone made this upgrade, and any suggestions?
Thanks,
Darryl

DT/Swiss makes them (but don't search their website)

The Trek frame is definitely disk/drum ready with the bolts and spare cable stops and guides underneath the frame. I haven't added to my T1000 yet, because my stoker is 80lbs. And I no longer attach my trail-a-bike to the back of the tandem for my other daughter.

Let me know how it goes.

Precision Tandems -- http://www.precisiontandems.com/ -- has 'em.

The adapter is Trek part # 210648. Most bike shops can order it through Trek. It is not in the QBP catalog.

We love the BB7's on our T2000.

That's the add-on mount required to fit a disc brake caliper on the first-generation T2000 frame. An IS caliper mount is part of the second-gen T2000 dropout, so the OP may not need that part.

Hi - thanks for your help. Do you happen to know that this would be the rear wheel adaptor for the Avid disc brake?

Yes.... that would be the one. This is one of our 203mm Avid's rotor mounted to the very same, 6 bolt adapter.

That appears to be just what I need - is it available? Is the 203mm rotor the recommended size?
Thanks,
Darryl

is it available?

All of the tandem speciality dealers (www.tandemseast.com, www.precisiontandems.com, etc...) will have them on hand and any bike shop that uses QBP as a wholesaler can get them as well.

Is the 203mm rotor the recommended size?

Yes.

Oops. Sorry. Didn't read the post carefully enough.

Sorry to bring back this old thread but I just acquired a used 2004 Trek T2000 with low miles and in excellent condition with all stock parts. I'm looking to convert the rear wheel to disc brake and having a hard time to locate this adapter

DT/Swiss part HBDT881: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product.a...S&currency=USD

since they're out of stock everywhere. One UK shop has it but don't ship to US so I'm contacting them for an exception. I also emailed www.tandemseast.com, www.precisiontandems.com but have not gotten any response yet. In case they don't have it too, does anyone know where else can I look for it? There are couple shops that have similar adapter but for 140mm like this one http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/dt-swiss-...29105/?geoc=us. Does this work with some kinds of 5mm washer or something? Thanks!
