Tandem rental in Los Angeles area and route suggestions

I've got a business trip in LA in a week and would like to take advantage of the nice weather you folks have up there compared to your Northern neighbor. My wife is planning on flying to join me on this trip for some sightseeing.

As part of our sightseeing, we're considering renting a tandem. We ride a M/S Cannondale right now and I'm looking for a place that'll rent a similar tandem as our's or at least, one that'll fit in the Los Angeles area. I'm 5'3" (capt) and my wife is 5'4".

Route suggestions would be great too. We're willing to ride all day and up to 100miles. I hear the LA to San Diego along the coast is a beaut (and train back)...some details would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I actually don't know anyone who rents anything better than beach cruiser tandems. But:

Velo Pasadena is the Santana Dealer in SoCal, and King's Bikes (Seal Beach) sells Co-Mo. I'm not sure if either rents tandems, but of the two, I'd say King's is probably the better bet. A third possibility would be to contact Santana directly. They're about an hour east of downtown LA. They rent bikes for their tours; I'm sure if they thought you were thinking of purchasing, they'd cut you a deal on one.

As for riding, if you were picking up at Velo Pasadena, the store is pretty close to a bike path that runs to Seal Beach (About 40 miles of close to flat each way). From Seal Beach, you can ride down the coast to San Diego...that's about 100 miles (one way). If you're doing the San Diego ride on a Saturday, my wife and I will join you.
