I'm looking at that as a possible purchase, he is asking 1500 for it.. is that a good deal? I'm inquiring now as to the mileage and what not on it

and would a 23 / 21 frame fit myself 6'2 and my stoker who is 5'9 comfortably?

1500 sounds a little bit expensive. I paid about 1k for a 99 Cannondale RT1000 that had really low miles. It was a XL/M frame and it fits me and wife well. I'm 6' 4".

That looks like small frame. I'm surprised it fits you. What year model is it?

I agree the frame looks small. Unless you have short legs for your height. I'm 6'3" and get nothing but comments about how long the head tube is - it would have been longer except for being able to fit (the fork, I presume) in the S&S cases. You can see the head tube I'm talking about in a recent post on the "Pictures of Happy Tandem Couples" thread. You probably want a 25".

That price may be a little high. But IF it fits,(which looks a little iffy) and if it is in excellent condition I would not loose the deal over the money.
For your ref, our's is a 21-19, I'm a short legged 5'11" and the stoker is 5'3". Ours fits well but I've had to play with stem lengths and heights over the years to keep comfortable.
As you probably know, C'dales are very solid Tandems that can handle large strong riders and will last near forever. IMHO, they are a great value, easily upgradeable and can more that hold their own vs others costing much more. Our's has serverd us very well and has allowed us to enjoy the sport for many years. We always recommend them highly.

With C'dale being bought by a Canadian company (Dorell), they will no longer be building bikes in Connecticut . . . but in some far-a-way place. Don't know if they'll continue doing tandems nor what the overseas quality will be.

For him, yes. For you, you could do a lot better. Brand new Cannondale Road Model 3's (R3) sell for about $1,800. That appears to be a mid to early 90's Cannondale just based on the lettering and color.

Fit would probably be marginal for you as you're at the lower-end of the size range for that particular model: at 6'2" there were two more larger size frames in the C'dale line up back in the pre-CAD 7 days when that was built (25 x 21 & 25 x 23) that would have been the correct size for you and your stoker.

Wow, he gets $1500 for it that's some darn good resale value.

For comparison, I recently purchased a low milage Cannondale MT1000 mountain bike tandem, 1996 model, in very good condition for $600 off Craiglist. Most of it was stock, and it came with two cateye computers, newer saddles, 4 water bottle cages, bell, kickstand, and front and rear lights.

I got my 2005 last fall for $1,500, and it included several upgrades (carbon fork, extra wheelset, Ultegra 10sp). Both parties were pleased with the deal. So 1,500 for that bike seems too steep.

I just saw an RT3000 for $1500 on craigslist.....

I'm 5'8 with a 34 1/2" inseam and ride a 56cm or 19/20" bike comfortably. I could fit a taller bike but my torso is short so I have a mile of seatpost hanging out to compensate for limited reach. My 6' husband has a 34" inseam and rides a 58cm or 20" bike.
In other words, overall height won't give you an answer- you have to consider both leg and torso length.

My 06 cannondale mtn tandem is a lg/med, I am the captain and it fits me very well.
