Bloomingcyclist
It is with a heavy heart that I share sad news regarding the passing of our dear friend, Greg, who wrote under the nom de plume Bloomingcyclist.
Despite being a strong and fit cyclist, while nearing the end of a 50 mile ride with his wife on their tandem and while cresting a final climb our friend suffered what was described as a heart failure this past Tuesday evening.
I first learned of Greg's passing this morning by a mutual friend.
Greg and his wife were dear friends with whom we have shared many now cherished moments over the past three years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wonderful wife, family and friends. He will be missed.

Oh, this is so sad!
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I'm so sorry for their loss.
Small comfort that he died doing what he loved. May we all be so fortunate.

Terribly sad ... but please God let me go that way. Condolences to Bloom's wife. I trust she's safe. Thankfully this occurred on a climb, I suppose.
These stories are jolting, for sure.

I am very sad to hear this. My wife and I bought a tandem 2 weeks ago. We live about 60 miles from Greg and last fall we went to his home where he allowed my wife and I to test ride his tandem. I was looking forward to see him at tandem rallies this year.

Another cycling voice has been stilled.
Sincerest condolences to his family.
Always live as if today could be your last day; they were doing what they loved . . .
riding TWOgether.

We first met Greg Mongold & his lovely wife Linda at our first hilly rally at TTR, 2007. They were great inspirations to us and provided a lot of encouragement when we needed plenty of both. We had all expectations of riding with Greg & Linda at many other rallies in the future and are very sad that this very enthusiastic tandem rider left us before his time, doing one of the things he loved most.
Some of Greg & Linda's Tandem adventure pictures are posted here;

Our sympathies and prayers to his family. As TG stated cherish every moment you get doing the things you love with the people you love. As Rudy stated.. live one day at a time.. that would be now, cherish it!

This is tragic. Our condolences to Linda and the family.
Greg and Linda befriended us as newbies at our first tandem rally, the ETR in 2007. The following year at the TTR they picked us out of the crowd to again welcome us. After we blew-up going over School House gap, they waited for us to recover at Metcalf Bottoms and gave us a wonderful lead down the Little River road.

Too young.
We all have to go sometime and if I could pick a way to go, it sounds like this wouldn't be a bad one. Especially if there was no warning.
However, very hard on those left behind.

We are very sad to hear the news. We also met Greg and Linda at ETR in 2007. They made us feel welcomed at our first tandem rally and have been an inspiration. Our prayers are with the family during this most difficult time.
