Calfee = Stretch Limo @ Newport Beach Wedding

NEWPORT BEACH Love will make you do crazy things. Just ask Kenny Fuller and Pamela Mooney, cycling aficionados who tied the knot early this morning while wearing Spandex, and while standing outside a Peet's Coffee and Tea, where their romance started.

The Corona del Mar couple rode up on their special version of a stretch limo (a $12,000 tandem bicycle) while wearing their special versions of wedding attire (a tuxedo jersey for him, a white gown jersey for her).

Pretty cool story, and video.

But it seems a little affected to sew World championship colors into the sleeves of your tux.

But I guess if your world champion, you've earned the right.

Nice to see that the guy who constantly kicked my butt in the 40+ Masters races in SoCal can still do it years later. Maybe marriage will slow him down a little? Probably not.

Memorable wedding photos!
First couple we know that got married on bicycle were friends Susan Notarangelo and Lon Haldeman . . . and that was quite a few decades ago!
They are still pedaling on . . . TWOgether!

Our friends got married on Mt. Diablo in the Bay Area. The bride led a ride with the gals on single bikes up the south side and the groom led a ride with the guys on single bikes up the north side. After the wedding - they descended Mt. Diablo on their tandem and lead the whole group to their reception.

I considered those jerseys... for the funny/tackiness they offered..

but I think our wedding kits ended up much better (well, except for the WC stripes)

Ruthie has a white tennis skirt on over her bibs. We bought the black and white jerseys for the occasion, but they are really nice jerseys that we will use over and over, unlike the tux/gown ones...

The cute kid, is our nephew and ring bearer (we are not there yet ... phew )

Ahh, true! That's why our wasn't really a full bike wedding, we had the ceremony at a church, real tux and wedding gown, etc.... We changed and rode the tandem from the church to the reception (the route happened to be some of our primary stomping grounds). Around a 1/4 of the way through the reception we changed back to our real wedding attire, before the dancing/toasts.

Both Kenny and Pam have been married before, This was there way to celebrate there union with there bike friends. I train with Kenny on our Saturday ride, and He's the real deal. At 61 years of age he still hangs with the front pack (mostly cat 1s and 2s). He has more State, National and World titles than anyone. He is also a really nice guy. Congratulations Kenny and Pam !!!

I think any wedding is awesome, and any wedding involving a bike is ever better

I understand about the previous marriage/age thing. Being young (and not being married before), we have a whole bunch of family to appease, etc, etc

It's funny, when Ruth & I told everyone that we would be riding our tandem from the church to the reception site, most of them thought we were either (a) nuts, or (b) why aren't you getting a limo?
