which wheel to use for tandem
The original Hugi rear hub on my 1995(ish) Trek T200 failed after about 300 miles (apparently these were notoriously defective, even though Trek refused to acknowledge or deal with the problem). at which point my wife and I split and the tandem went into storage.
New life, new love and so it's back on the road. Though I am trying to sort out a good alternative rear wheel.
I currently have two to choose from.
A) a Deore XT FH-M756 with an 8speed cassette and Mavic T520 36 hole rim. (advantage here seems to be that it could take a disc drake)
B) a Shimano FH-HF07 40-spoke Sun CRT16IIwheel currently with a 7 speed cassette (though I understand this should take an 8speed.) (does not seem to be threaded for a disc brake.)
should I swap the 8speed cass. onto the 40spoke wheel?
