New Tandem - need help!

Hallo everybody!
I just got this 'new' tandem (Link) http://www.hmi-basen.dk/blobs/orig/16885.jpg

It doesn't work because the chain isn't on, and the cog wheel on the back is not on....

There is only one cog wheel on the back.... but should there not be two?? One from the front cog wheel to the back, and then from the back cogwheel to the cog on the rear wheel??

I hope you can and will help me, so my bike is cruising around soon!!

Yes there should, and most likely it'll be compatible with off the shelf stuff, but it could also be a proprietary setup that you need to get from the manufacturer. Most good bike shops could tell you.

What a neat tandem, though! It would appear to have both front AND rear steering! Boy is THAT going to complicate things for a few rides!

Have fun!

Wow I would keep the chain off if I had to ride this tandem with somebody on the back. Post the video of your first ride

There better be someone riding on the back since that's where all the brake levers are. Unlike most tandems, this one is set up for the captain to be in back and the stoker in front. It looks like the front handlebar stem can either be inserted in the steerer tube (as illustrated), so both people share the steering, or it can be inserted in the short fixed tube just behind the headtube, in which case only the person in back is doing the steering.

Dual control of the steering was pretty common on older tandem designs. AFAIK it usually works ok, but probably because there's agreement that one person has primary control and the other one won't fight them for it.

Is that a Danish bike? Or, is the OP thereabouts?
Never seen anything like that here in the heartland of America.
