My new tandem....

Picked-up a 1990's Ryan Duplex off of Craigslist last week. It's quite the head turner. First time on a recumbent. First time with under-seat steering. If you see me coming towards you, beware; the pilot is unstable... Just one ride so far, but it's a hoot!

Very Nice!

I would suggest putting on a small child's handlebar on the front headset just to make people wonder how you're steering it...

It must be quite confortable for the captain... right in the middle of that huge wheel base..

What's the overall length? Got any pics of the Ryan next to the C-Dale?
People just go nuts when they see you riding it, right?
I would imagine that the attention you get on a 'bent tandem is exponential compared to being on a single 'bent or an upright tandem.

1st time on a recumbent w/USS is on a tandem? You (& your stoker) must be quite brave!

Looks like a lot of fun!

We had one. It was 11 feet long. It was fun for the first few rides but was hard to handle, especially in tight turns. All that linkage that makes up the steering system resulted in a slightly "loosey Goosey" feeling. We sold ours in 1 hour listing it on the internet. We owned it for about 6 months.

Cool bike! We bought a Rans Screamer this spring and we are loving it. We replaced a Santana upright with it due to nerve issues with my stoker and it is very comfortable. She went from a few days of recovery after a ride on the upright to asking for as many rides as she could get on the Screamer.

As far as coments go, the recumbent tandems do get a lot more notice than the uprights. We rarely pass anyone who fails to say something from "are those things as comfortable as they look"? to "cool bike" to "did you see that thing?"
