Timing chain ring inside or outside?
Looking at FSA Gossamer crankset they have a 42T chainring installed on the inside of the crank spider.
In order to make the chain line work with an standard Ultegra triple crankset on the front I believe that I will need to install a 42T chainring on the outside of the spider. I see 42T chainrings made by FSA and Salsa that seem to made for installation on the inner side. Would I be able to flip over this chain ring and install it on the outer side od the Ultegra crank?
Is this a dumb question, or nobody knows the answer?
Ride it like you stole it
yes, now you have an answer to your first question.

Are ther ramps and pins that make it directional? If so that would be no.
