Our new Calfee.
It's going to be a few weeks before I have all the parts.

Congrats.

Nice choice of coloring.... :thumb:

That is a great paint job! That'll look nice built up!

jnbrown 12-31-09 01:36 PM

Borrowed the paint job from another Calfee owner that was a reference from Calfee.
Just added a black fade around the bottom brackets to hide the carbon wrapping.

I have been through a lot waiting 3 months for this frame, deciding on a paint job, selecting parts and shopping for them. Sometimes I feel like a buyer for a bike shop, its never ending I still need a crankset, bars, stem, etc. I agonized over ordering it. Normally I enjoy getting new bike stuff and working on bikes but this is over the top. Then I found out my roof needed a $2000 repair job and I had to replace 4 faucets in my bathrooms and learned to be a plumber. I almost don't remember why I wanted it, to have the ultimate tandem and enjoy riding it. Luckily the end is in sight, I got a year end bonus and my daughter graduated from college and got a job. I hope when we take that the first ride I am going to think it was all worth yet it. Heck, I already know thats what will happen.

You know, you're right. It's probably not worth all the trauma and drama. Tell you what ... to get this off your plate so you can get on with your life, you can go ahead and send it to me. I'll even pay shipping just to help you out! Consider it to be a Christmas present from Maggi and me!

Where ever you have it sitting waiting to get built it's going to be screaming at you "build me!, build me!" :);) I don't know how you are going to handle the pressure! I'd take out a loan if I had too!

You really did not need 2 hands to hold up that Calfee twicer!
3 months is not a long wait to get a frame; accumulating the parts/pieces is always fun; when we design a tandem for ourselves, we always have at least 2 options for parts choices. Sometimes the stuff you want is not all that readily available.
Ah, patience is a virtue . . .
Enjoy the ride TWOgether!
Pedal on!

It's not so much the money. I ordered some spoke nipples and spoke prep from an online shop that is local and they did not have it in stock and was not answering their phone this week, just a recording that said "we are experiencing heavy call volume" yeah right. So I had to reorder it from somewhere else its coming from Minnesota should be here in a few days and I can start building the wheel. I have been on the phone to FSA about 170mm front crankset. They have not had any for years but are telling some SLKs are coming in Jan 12. So i hope I can get them, I have to get a shop to order because FSA won't sell them to me direct.

"...and I had to replace 4 faucets in my bathrooms and learned to be a plumber." Now I understand why you are showing off the new frame in your bathroom ;-)

Congrats of course on the beautiful frame!
