bike 00:
W-a-y back when (read early '70s) did New Year event in Dearborn with the Cycling Saddlemen called The First Dozen. Chilly and slushy/snow but with great coffee/hot chocolate and donuts after the ride.
Invigorating to say the least!
Now after living in the Sonoran desert for 30-some years, I think we were a bit crazy back then!
Got only up to 70 degrees today.
Pedal on into 2010!

That "First Dozen" ride in Dearborn is still going on.

This was our 15th year doing this ride on Harsens Island in Algonac. This year we even got good media coverage with an article and pictures on page 3:

Times Herald (Port Huron paper?) article was great. Used to live in New Baltimore on Anchor Bay in the 50s-60s, then moved to Shelby Twp 'til we moved to sunny AZ in '78.

Rode Harsens Island once from Utica, MI and then on to Tupperville, Ontario back in the '70s on our tandem.
When in MI we rode tandem in the winter when road was dry and 20 degrees. BBRrrrrr!
Small world isn't it?
