New Semi-Recumbent Tandem shown at Taipei Cycle Show

I've been surprised not to see more coverage of the Taipei Cycle show in the online cycling press (this is the third biggest such show after Eurobike and Interbike), so today I started searching for it. I found an interesting blog post that showed a new semi-recumbent tandem. The manufacturer has a minimalist page that includes it here.

Of course, it is a similar set-up to the Bilenky Viewpoint and Hase Pino, but what makes this unique is the two independent drivetrains! The drivetrains don't even match, with the rear person getting a triple chankset, but the front only have a single chainring. Despite this, the front person has two gear levers, so I'm not sure what the left lever would control.

Looks like the stoker stears!

Yeah, that's messed up: thumb shifters in front, brakes in rear... wtf?

I don't get the world's-longest-steering-tube business, a feature that neither Bilenky nor Hase found necessary.

I believe that the left shifter is for a SRAM dual drive. Scroll down to the specs on this bike from their web sight http://www.twbents.com.tw/HTM/cobra.htm .

Looks like 2-wheel drive; interesting, but a wee it complex. Price?

What kind of posture is the captain supposed to take? The handlebars and crank-forward position say 'easy rider', but my spine says 'ow'.

I guess in reality the stoker sits in the front and the captain on the back?
