Thanks Phil . . .
Learned that Phil Wood died last month at age 83 in Roseville, CA.
Met Phil several times in the early 80s. Was surprised to see that he was wheelchair bound.
He was a great innovator and was famous for his sealed bearing hubs, pedals and bottom brackets. He sold his business in 1991.
In 1977 we had our first custom tandem built by Matt Assenmacher and we specced Phil hubs, bottom brackets and touring pedals. Compared to what was on the market at that time, his components were superbly designed and near-indistructable.
Had several sets of Phil hubs and BBs last 50,000+ miles on a couple of our tandems and they were still good as new!
Thanks Phil . . . RIP.
Rudy and Kay/zonatandem.
