First mountain passes on the tandem today!

Yeah OK, so they were minor passes on a short ride, only 4600' of climbing in 53 miles, but still. Stoker is stoked. Her first passes ever. And she was so terrified before that she spent part of last night awake with leg cramps. Not terrified of the passes themselves, but of failing. How many of us have been there, have taken that step into space?

And she was Super Stoker. Kept up a nice cadence, kept her legs relaxed, head up, back straight, HR same as mine. And I was a good captain, no boo-boos, stopped every half hour on the crux climb, kept us fed, electrolyted, and hydrated.

The Speedster climbed well with its 26 front ring. We hardly ever had to drop down to the 34 in back. The technical descent went very well. Stoker has figured it out, and the bike handled like a single, easy to whip around the big hits and through the hairpins.

She wants to know when we can do it again.

WE are impressed! As a matter of fact J & I did our first pass yesterday, 1500 ft in 6 miles plus a side jog, we are 62, she has ridden for a year, but to tell the truth, we can't stay out of granny, we have a 21.5 gear inch low gear (that is a 24-32 on 26"wheels), and I wish we had lower, we made it though!

Kudos to a great 'stoked' stoker!
Kudos to a great captain for taking stoker's fears and turning them into accomplishments!
Pedal on TWOgether!
