Child Stoker Kit

Hi everyone!

My 5 year old son can ride his bike without training wheels pretty well, but when we go on longer trips it's difficult for him to keep up with us. He's interested in riding stoker on our Davidson tandem. Doing a search online I found daVinci and Santana both sell child stoker kits. However, $300 seems like a lot to spend on an experiment.

Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative or have a kit that your children have outgrown? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,
Grace

Burley used to make one. It's still pretty expensive, I paid 125 15 years ago. It worked well though.

I'm working on adding a wee-ride co pilot to our tandem so all 3 of us can go together, got it off craigslist for $20..

If tandem stoker compartment is short enough, you may be able to get by with crank arm adapters/shorteners and an extended stoker stem.
