Looking for Fort Worth tandem captains

Hello tandem folks. the Ride of Silence is just 2 weeks away. In some places, a touching message is sent by having some tandems in the ride with flowers draped over the stoker's seat in place of the stoker. The absence of a stoker is such an obvious signal, kind of like a missing-man formation in flight or the riderless horse with the boots backwards in the stirrups.

I have 1 rider lined up for the Fort Worth ride to do this, but I'd like more. If you are here and interested, let me know.

Scott, the ride has a very worthwhile, touching sentiment behind it. You might want to modify your request (edit) to "Looking for FTW tandem captains". Any captain could ride a stoker-less tandem 9 miles at 12 mph. It can be a bit strange without a stoker, maybe a bit whippy, but no problem otherwise even with some climbs.

I take it you need tandem bikes as well? I mean, I don't have a tandem but if someone wants to provide one I could probably do the ride on it. Alternately, look at some of the people who have serious utes (with the platform on the back that their kids sit on) and maybe they can be set up with an empty bike seat? I'm thinking of Nicky, Stephanie, etc., from the CM rides.

Last year we road our tandem in the downtown Fort Worth ride of silence. We started through downtown stopping at lights and by the second loop the downtown bicycle police officers noticed what was happening and started leap frogging ahead to hold traffic. The last couple loops were a steady slow silent procession.

Last year 2 or 3 tandems with stokers. Your idea is a good one but we are a team and ride together.

I would never ask tandem teams, or anyone else, to leave someone at home who wants to ride. I was glad you guys were with us last year. I'll be glad to have you both on the bike this year. I have some friends who ride a tandem because she has disabilities that keep her from being able to ride alone. They are planning to do the ride.

I only want tandem captains who, for whatever reason, don't have their stoker available for the ride, to do this. I really want everybody who is willing to do the ride to be out there pedaling. I'm expecting to have at least 200 riders this year.
