Tandem riding through Sonoma-this is why we live in CA!

Hello All.

Just wanted to share some pics from a tandem ride through Sonoma County.
The run along Hwy 1 is gorgeous!

This is winter riding in the Bay Area:

Thanks for the Pics! Here in NE Ohio it is snowing and cold. But in a few short weeks we will be off to cycle the Natchez Trace!

There probably should be a seasonal ban against posting pictures of California rides during the winter. First, it drives folks from winter climates further into low temperature induced depression. Second, it encourages folks to consider moving to California. We've done parts of that ride and you've really got to see Sonoma on a bicycle to appreciate it. Great pictures and a great narrative.

NoCal v SoCal

I love the pictures and the fact you have a "classy" group. We can come close in SoCal but the difference is people, too many of them here. fastcarbon

How do you find riding in Sonoma? I'm terrified For several reasons:
1. Winding roads with high (50moh) speed limits
2. Narrow shoulders
3. DUIs once the 11am wine tasting opens.
I see accidents all the time in healdsburg while driving, does it worry you?

Sonoma is our favorite place for tandem riding as well. You just need to pick the right roads- West Dry Creek, for example, is wonderful.

We also like the Chileno Valley/Spring Hill loop.

There are great roads and rides, but you need to find the right routes!

We would gladly take free info on the "recommended" routes, would love to plan a multi day trip out there sometime.

The TDPS is an experience, but it ain't Sonoma! Desert is about the only choice in CA during the Winter, not the PS qualifies as desert. My wife and I will be down in PS, but our mileage has been so low due to my travel that we'll probably wimp out and do the 56 miles. I sure wish they had something around 80.
