Lamborghini Tandem Upgrade+ and Stories ^_^b
First at all, i want to thanks to all tandem buddies here for all bicycle knowledge.
Lamborghini tandem costs ~$650. But the original components suck. The wheelset need to be trued; Couldn't stop the bike with the brakes; ~50lbs etc.
The reason we ride because I'm a triathlete and i rode a lot. But my girlfriend doesn't ride and balance. We have discussed and wanted to have some healthy hobby so I bought a tandem.
Well, I bought this tandem for almost 4 years. First year we spent a summer to practice balance, riding a straight line. Second year we tried to ride on some trails and practice shifting, turning, etc. Third year we tried to follow some local club to ride. My fiancee really did a good job!
I just spent two months for upgrade Lambo, weigh ~35lbs. In last two months I kept looking at ebay, amazon, nashbar, etc. to hunt for bargain component. Plus my fiancee loves pink and I'm fine with that....
Here is the Spec of the bike:
Brakes - Promax TX-117 alloy black linear design -> Sram Avid 5
Brake levers - Microshift integrated with shifters -> Shimano Ultegra 6603 Triple 10spd
Front derailleur - Shimano TZ-31 -> Shimano Dura-Ace 7803
Rear derailleur - Microshift rear derailleur -> Shimano XT-770
Freewheel - Shimano MF-TZ07 14-28T -> Sram PG1070
Chain - KMC Z51 116 -> KMC X10SL 10spd
Crankset - steel black 28/38/48 x 170mm -> FSA Gossamer
Bottom bracket - 68mm VP-B33 steel -> FSA BB (Come with Crankset)
Wheels - High V profile rims, alloy 700c, brass nipples -> Velocity Dyad 40H
Total cost ~$950

Great Job! You have a nice ride there. I got my Lambo in Aug '09 and I ride it almost every day. I love it. And so does my 9 y/o grandson. He now has SPDs and I got him a bike jersey and gloves for his upcoming birthday. Searching for some shorts to round out the kit.
We plan to ride in the local LiveStrong ride together as we are both cancer survivors: 30 mo for him and 10 yrs for me.
We ride almost every day, and he is really getting stronger. Like me, his athletic ability is geared toward cycling, tall, small frame, strong legs, good stamina. I hope he will continue long after I'm gone.
Well, I'm OT big time. Great Job Woodrow. Enjoy the lambo. Many happy miles. Soon you'll be on a Paketa.
