Looking for a set of bombproof wheels

Maggi and I don't want to ride our Bontragers right now, but do want to get back out on the bike. So we're in the market for an inexpensive used set of 40 or 48 hole, 145 OLD, 700c, shimano 8/9/10 speed tandem rated wheels.

Posting here since tandem stuff is so rare. Please PM me if you have some hanging around.

Bill

Bill,
We don't have any hanging around, but I believe daVinci's V-23's are very reasonable. We have the first generation V-22's and they have been very stout. We're at least 380 lbs full up.

These are pretty inexpensive:

I would plan on re-tensioning and truing.

The Dyad is a strong rim, the Shimano hubs are good. This price is lower than the hub and rim separately, totally ignoring the spokes and build.......

Thanks guys, but I was already aware of the "new" options. Before I spend $450 to $600 or more on a set of new training wheels, though, I'll buy a small used tandem suitable for Maggi to ride with our daughter and swap wheelsets for a while.

We had two mother/daughter tandems before, a Santana and a Fuji, but I sold both because of (lack of space/use and) incompatibility of wheels! The Santana I knew about before I bought it, but the 2007 Fuji kind of shocked me when I found 135mm spacing on it! We owned 3 tandems and couldn't swap out a single set of wheels. Won't make that mistake again!
