Adams Avenue Bicycles in San Diego will sell you complete Squadra kits without having to join GS Adams Avenue Bicycles. The flying "A" has been spotted worldwide. Their kit is not particularly expensive and is quite stylish.

Long sleeves are advantageous if it isn't going to get warm enough to need short sleeves. The sleeves always stay up, and there is only one garmet to fuss with, not three.

However, I have really taken to arm (and leg) warmers with Windstopper, in my case Gore OXYGEN SO Arm Warmers with WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shell. The wind block makes them warmer than long sleeves, and so really stretches the temperature range in which they are comfortable. As a result, though I'd previously get long sleeve jerseys, now I just get short sleeve, and count on the Gore's. Same goes for the leg warmers, which obviate the need for full tights. Review of the line here.

I agree with the arm/leg warmer route down to low 40s. We usually start our long rides a half hour before sunrise and we can count on big change in temperature along with a bright sun beaming down on us before we finish. If you can't take it off there is a chance it might get pretty sweaty.

My wife and I were impressed by the selection and prices at ScudoPro.com, so we ordered a couple of these jerseys. They were an easy choice, since our tandem is gray, her favorite color is red, and my solo bike is also red.

I'll post an update once we get the jerseys.

    Thanks again!
    Any report back?

Great thread....but still have trouble finding matching patterns/sizing for our family 'team'. ScudoPro and Mt Borah seem the best for our needs...but couldn't find any pricing on Mt Borah (probably a good thing it appears).....

So, I ordered a surprise for the family team from ScudoPro.com.....got the Needs a Volume Control Dazzling Stars Jersey as I'm sure our two stokers and will love the colors....our 'team' is Dad with 8 year old stoker on a Trek T900, and Mom with 9 year old stoker on a Phat Limo '21' custom conversion. For those curious minds, they are barely 13 months apart....

We have entered our two tandems in a local event, the 2012 Collin Classic, and will surprise the team with the jerseys before we head over for it. I'll hopefully add to the 'Happy Tandem's Pics' thread after the ride....

    Report on ScudoPro Jerseys

hartphoto motivated me to get off my duff and post a report on the ScudoPro jerseys that we bought.

Overall, our experience was a mix of good and not so good.

    Good

<> The ScudoPro website offers many designs and colors, and they are available in short sleeve, long sleeve, men's and women's sizes. I also learned that they will make race fit jerseys on request.

<> Their prices (about $40) are lower than most.

<> The rep I spoke to on the phone was helpful and friendly.

    <> Our jerseys look great!

    DSC04528_small.jpg DSC04574_small.jpg

    Not So Good

<> Maybe their sizing chart is misleading, or maybe I just couldn't figure it out. According to the chart I should wear XL men, but I normally wear medium, so I ordered that, and it was the best fit.

<> They are slow. My initial order was placed on April 3 and shipped on April 9. A few days after receipt I sent one of the jerseys back and asked for an exchange. They received the original jersey on April 20 but did not ship the replacement until May 8. During that time period I called several times asking for updates and a shipping date estimate.

<> I only have one other jersey, so this may not be much of a comparison. However, my ScudoPro jersey does not fit as well my other jersey, which was made by Voler. In addition, the ScudoPro material and seams do not feel as smooth on my skin as the Voler jersey, and it does not wick perspiration as well. I would rate the ScudoPro fit, feel and function as "OK" and the Voler as "Good". For perspective, the ScudoPro is much better than a t-shirt. It's just that the Voler is better. On the other hand, the ScudoPro was just 2/3 to 1/2 the price of a Voler jersey.

The first jersey I received was men's medium club fit. I'm 5'9" and about 150 lbs. The shoulders on the club fit jersey fit me well, but the rest was baggy. I arranged to exchange it for a race cut, and that is why I went through the exchange process described above. In the end, the race cut fit me much better. If you are slender, I suggest that you request the race cut to start with.

Overall, I would say that ScudoPro offers a great selection of colors, patterns and sizes at lower than usual prices. ScudoPro had a better selection of matching (men's and women's) jerseys than any other source that I found. However, the sizing chart was confusing to me, the fit, feel and function is just OK, and delivery was very slow.

Did you find an option on the Scudo Pro web site to select race cut? I see a choice to select Club or Race under the Team Line, but not in the regular jerseys like the ones mentioned in this thread. Or do you just have to call and ask?

We ordered a set of jerseys from Scudo Pro a little over two weeks ago, and since I hadn't seen any email update from them I called them on Monday. They said they had been out of the men's L in the jersey we selected, and had to make some more. They also said that all the jerseys that were ordered between May 1 and May 15 should be shipping soon, hopefully this week. So far, my impression is like yours, that they have selection and price, but are a little slow on the shipping. I'll update on the fit after we receive ours.

In my case getting the race cut was part of the return and exchange of one of the original jerseys I ordered. I requested it on a return form that was available on the website.

Before I made that request I called to ask if a race cut was available. The rep told me that I could request it, so I did. I called because like you, I did not see a race cut option for the regular jerseys on the website.

I am curious to learn what you think of the fit, feel and function of the jerseys once you receive them.

Beloved stoker and I own very few long sleeved jerseys.

If it's too cool for armwarmers, we're more apt to pair a short sleeved jersey with a long-sleeved base layer. We both own thin base layers for cool weather and heavier base layers for cold weather (California cold = down to 32F, not lower).

    YMMV.

Interesting, we have always done shortsleeves base with ss and long sleeves base with ls, maybe a fashion thing? It just seems to me a SS jersey and arm warmers are a great deal more pricey than a nice LS jersey or even a SS jersey and LS base.

Two reasons why we prefer armwarmers when the weather cooperates:

    1) Many rides start cool and warm up later in the morning. It's a lot easier to stow armwarmers than a base layer in a jersey pocket.

    2) Easy to roll down armwarmers while climbing then roll them back up again for a cool descent.

Worth the money to us, but then we've accumulated a lot of bike clothing options over 2+ decades of riding.

I started this thread a few months ago hoping to find a good source for matching jerseys. Thanks for the many helpful replies!

We eventually ordered jerseys from Scudo Pro. I think they look good, and after an exchange they fit well. Those things are, of course, important. Unfortunately, the initial shipment was a little slow, and when I asked for an exchange, shipping was very slow. As I mentioned earlier, the material is not as comfortable, and it doesn't seem to wick perspiration as well my other jersey. Now a seam is unraveling near the bottom of the zipper on my wife's jersey. She has worn it less than ten times.

    We are less than satisfied.

When we see a jersey we really like we just buy two of them, medium for me and small for stoker.twin six.gif

This one I got while on vacation in Maui:

This one was on sale at REI:

#1 impediment to buying jerseys is finding a taped fit XS for mini-Stoker.

#2 rule (captain) is to find something he doesn't feel like a goofball wearing, just because mini-Stoker likes it. Also to avoid - Euro Condom (think Assos) and Potato Sack "relaxed" outfits.

If intelligent website designers would include search-by-size, we would save hours of our lives for more useful purposes.

Clubs and teams that order kits from companies such as Voler can get all sorts of sizes, in both club and race cut, for both sexes.

Find a club to join or affiliate with that has a nice kit, get in on the yearly order, and everything will be exactly the size you want for both captain and stoker. And not just the SS Jersey. The LS jersey, the jacket, the vest, the bibs, etc. etc.

Competitive Cyclist has Giordana at up to 50% off! right now, and as I mention above, has several items nearly identical for men and women. So, any team looking to spruce up their unified look at a good value, this is a good time. CC usually sells at list, but when they have a sale it is usually really good.

Note how the white jacketsfor men and women below, while not identical, would appear cohesive if worn by captain and stoker.
