At our age (50+) we do not process carbs well - they tend to stick around regardless of BMI, daily calorie burn, etc. Processed grains seem to be the worst. I've taken to only "rewarding" myself with a Mex meal & Taco chips if I ride > 50 miles, and even then my weight can go up 2lbs for a couple days.

Interesting, we have gone COMPLETELY WHEAT FREE and have both lost weight, feel better and have more energy. I stumbled across the book "Wheat Belly" and after reading it, I look at wheat as modern poison. I really believe that modern wheat is what is making the American people so fat and diabetic.

Interesting you should mention the wheat thing. https://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505269_1...tag%3Dfacebook

We received a link to the "chronic poison" article not long ago.

Well, there may be a little more to the story...

By the way, our household is wheat-(and many other grains) free since my wife has Celiac's disease. Apparently, this immune reaction to gluten is about as common as colorblindness, and yet I had not heard of it until a decade ago.
