Wound Up Carbon Fork
I am looking to upgrade our 2010 Cannondale RT. the Fatty fork is okay, but I prefer the ride on my single with a carbon fork. My shop suggested a wound up carbon disc . Is it worth the near 500 bucks? I don't mind spending the coin if I will notice a difference. Thanks for any comments.

Being a newbie, I did my homework by reading a lot of these forums about forks and talked to a few bike shops for their input. Bottom line: Be carefull. Axel to crown and rake can make a difference in how the bike handles. I chose to get as close to the original rake as possible to minimize the handling differences and can say I can't tell any difference.
I purchased the Co-Motion cf fork from Tandems East. It was the only one closest to the factory rake and I figured Mel from Tandems East wouldn't sell me something that wasn't compatible. I did look at several cf forks including the one you mentioned.
We put 75 miles so far on the new fork. I noticed a huge difference in the ride (all for the better). However, let me also say I upgraded the wheels to Spinergy and changed the timing drive to belt drive at the same time so I can't speak directly to just the cf fork change.
I will say between the changes, I've got to own one of the smoothest riding Cannondales around and am very happy with it. Oh, and I dropped 2.7 lbs from the bike also.

Consider what size tire you will want to use when buying a fork. I second what Pic said about not changing the handling. The Wound Up tends to be heavier than other tandem carbon forks but they are also stiff. You would still lose some weight with the Wound Up.

You might want to wait for the hopefully incipient arrival of the 2014 RT-1, if only to see if you can source its (carbon?) fork. That'd have to be less expensive, right?
