Tandems East Expo

The Stoker and I made the trek to New Jersey yesterday as a little outing and to maybe pick-up a couple of jerseys but look what I found sitting in the back. :-)

We have been wanting to get a nice steel framed tandem in a better size for my long legs. Bushnell Steel.

We bought our tandem from Mel at his expo a few years ago, the expo is a great way to check out all his bikes, its definitely worth the trip. With that said you can still see all his tandems without the expo his "regular" hours.

DCwom, yes we visited the shop last fall and loved the homey nature of their business. Mel and Barbara are wonderful folks. We rode a few bikes around the short course as we were trying to decide what we wanted to do. They have an size large older model Co-Motion Speedster we rode and really liked but it would have needed some work on my set-up so we were holding off. I had been looking at the Santana Arriva as it comes in XL which looked like it would have been a good size too but was contemplating the propitiatory things. But having a bike built by one of the smaller builders is pretty cool.

We actually weren't planning on getting a bike till the fall as I had just put some work into on Cannondale but this one was calling my name. We bought some Orange Cinelli bar tap to jazz it up a bit and I need to switch-out the stoker bars but it's snowing today so I've got some time. I think we are sending the snow your way DCwom.:-)

So it looks like you will be riding a new bike when we get together this spring . Congratulations. Yes the snow put a damper on biking, but it will be gone by Saturday. Have a fun first ride.

Thanks car knocker

car knocker, we've been really struggling this winter with sickness so you will really have to go easy on us when we get out. :-)

Now I need to find a buyer for our Cannondale as they two are pretty redundant. I've got the original stem so it should be pretty easy to get an "average" sized person set-up.

I'm 6'4". None of our tandems fit that well. Nice find.

Thanks Standalone, we haven't been able to really get a good ride in yet. The Stoker has really been struggling with illness this year but is starting turn the corner. It is going to be nice this weekend so hoping to get out for at least a 15 mile ride. The new one feels really good sizing-wise, I might want to go with wider bars but still thinking on that.
