We started on the road tandem and now ride at least 90% of the time on our El Conquistador de Montanas. 29er is the way to go (we've had both)

we have both a 26 and a 29r with couplers. We like the ride on both however we ride the 29 r much more. Mtn bike tandems(Alex) and Calfee are now making a carbon full suspension tandem also, we have friends whom just ordered one. Mountain tandems are great fun, we leave for a week of riding ours in Moab in a couple of weeks.
