Please help me find a road/cyclocross tandem. What about Giordano Viaggio
Hello folks,
I am looking for a decent entry-level road/cyclocross tandem for under (or about) 1k. Google search presents me with either high-performance super expensive machines or Giordano Viaggio Tandem. I also tried to find a used tandem but none of them are available in my area.
Is there any other options for road/cyclocross tandems that will not break my bank and are not super heavy? I have several well equipped bikes but never had a tandem, so I am a complete novice in that field. Giordano Viaggio Tandem looks OK and at least has some decent reviews but is it my only choice in that price tag?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Try to find a used Burley or Trek or possibly Cannondale.

The Viaggio needs quite a bit of work done to make it truly road-worthy. Saddles, brakes, adjustments, wheels cleaned out, etc. Try to find a used Cannondale/Trek/etc for around $1000 before you go with a Viaggio, they are nicer bikes. You would be surprised at the number of tandem riders in Jersey. Have you tried calling Mel at Tandems East? He's in southern NJ and may know of some good used bikes.

Thanks for the hint. Honestly I saw tandem riders only once in my area. I ll call Tandem East. They have great selection but the prices are quite high though. Oh well...

Agree, call Mel Kornbluh at Tandems East, he is near Pittsgrove NJ and may have some used Burleys/Trek/ Cannondale/Co-Motions on hand.
