I now own a Trek 5200. I am wanting a Tandem that my wife and I with 2 year old in tow can ride safely for 1/2 mile of gravel road and will carry us on 5-50 miles comfortably once we make it to the hiway. I rode a khs Mountain bike tandem. It handled better than I figured it would, had decent gears and was $699. It also had big but somewhat smooth tires. Would I be better off getting a hybrid tandem or are the mountain tandems more comfortable.
