Tandems East Expo

Rachel and I had the chance to take the drive over to NJ for the Tandems East Expo on Sunday. I needed some tires and just wanted to get my tandem fix. Last year was our first visit, it started out being a Sunday Drive and ended-up with us driving home with our Bushnell. To this day Rachel still accuses me of having that planned to whole time!

It was a great event with bikes running from entry level to separate line-ups of Co-motions, Da Vincis and Cannondales. My favorite was a row of 5 or 6 bikes ranging from 10 to 11K 4 Calfees and a Seven.

We missed Saturday which is when they had the various information seminars and as per usual it looked like they had some good sessions. Because of time and distance we didn't bring our bike but several teams were there for the rides and it was fun seeing their bikes.

It is we worth the drive next year if you get the chance.

Were there any 2014 Cannondale RT-1's?

We were there on Saturday. Drove 5 hours, down from snowy Syracuse, NY. It was a great day and got to ride a few bikes since it was a warm 68 degree afternoon.

Headed for home after placing an order for a new Kandy Oriental Blue, Da Vinci Design, In-2-ition road bike! Added a few upgrades such as a front disc brake, Campagnolo Chorus shifters which gives us 4 front chain rings and a 11-34 rear cassette.

Thank You Mel and Barbara, owners of Tandems East!!!

Now comes the hard part, the waiting and figuring what to do with my old Co-Motion tandem.

All daVincis come with 4 chainrings (really 4 cogs)!
Enjoy the ride TWOgether!

Actually, no. You can get Shimano shifters, which will come with 3 chainring/cogs. Their 'entry-level' Grand Junction only comes with Tiagra and 3 chainrings. The range is a little narrower than the 4-cog versions; effectively 56/42/28 vs. 60/48/36/24. We ordered a new dV last month, went with Shimano Ultegra, I don't see the need for the quad.

I'm not really sure, saw a line of Cannondales but didn't really look at them to see. I was thinking that they said they did.

We stand corrected . . .
Like you can order the daV without the independent coasting . . .

You could have them build you a single, too, but there are lots of other options at that point!

We wish we could of made it this year. I think we will make it a must go to for next year.

My worry is that I will want one of everything!

Please post pictures in relevant threads (weight and happy couples) when available - sounds like a fabulous machine.

According to Mel at Tandems East, there was an example of the long-awaited 2014 Cannondale RT-2 on display at the show.

I guess you all missed that.

We previously had a Cannondale and probably wouldn't own another one, so though we looked at them for a minute I totally forgot to look for the new model. That and the Calfee's were calling to me. :-)
