Shimano Chainrings-Different ones??

I am looking for a new middle chainring, 39t 130BCD. So while looking on ebay I see Shimano has a 6700, 6603,and a FC-6603.
What are the differences?
This will be a replacement for my middring.
Thanks!

I use the FC-6603 on my 9 and 10 speed bikes. The "3" indicates it's pinned and ramped for a triple. I don't know the meaning of the FC designation.

Bikes: Burley Duet [of some unknown year] (the guinea pig); 2001 Ventana ECDM (the project); And always one less than I think I really need.

FC refers to a chain ring. When Shimano was more into "specific" groups, the chainrings, cranksets, brakes, shifters, derailleurs, ect. in a certain group all had [generally] the same number, and the letters designated the different components.

All cranksets start with FC. The 6703 middle ring is triplizer that the small ring bolts to. The 6603 middle ring has a standard mount.

Avoid the 6703 ring unless you have an Ultegra crank or the new Shimano tandem cranks.

The 6603 is a standard 130mm triple middle ring, Ultegra quality, and the 5603 and 5703 are essentially the same at 105 quality so should cost less.
