How much is a full Campy Cannon worth?

I have a friend sellling a size large/med cannondale built up with a full Campy tandem gruppo, including Campy tandem cranks. It's all 8sp sti and should be rare?!? I'm supposed to go look at the bike this weekend and was wondering what it's worth. I'm thinking that the crankeset alone is worth what they want for the bike. Anyone got a clue?

IMHO, not much more than any other used tandem with good components. You might want to familiarize yourself with the comments on my used tandem pricing tool webpage as they may help you to maintain an open mind as you develop your offer.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Cannondale has really hammered the resale value of used tandems by eliminating all one but road tandem and setting the price point well below competing models with comparable equipment. Folks who purchased RT3000s just a year below for $3,200 are now forced to compete with new RT1000's that are equipped with nearly equivalent components that sell for $2,300 or there abouts.

Back to your friend's Campy group, if someone was trying to restore a special tandem that was built during the years that the Campy group was being offered it might be a nice prize. However, if you're just looking for a nice component group for a tandem there are far better and lighter offerings available today. Moreover, if someone wanted a Campy crankset on their tandem Chorus or Campy cranksets could be used to cobble one together, i.e., using helicoils, etc...
