Touring Route from Fort Worth to Austin?
Hi!
I'm thinking about doing a FW-Austin ride in late December (weather permitting) and was wondering if anybody here has route suggestions? I can always guess via Google maps, but thought I'd check here first. Thanks!

Weather in December can be unpredictable. I have read about rides from Dallas to Austin but not sure about Fort Worth as a starting point. Last Friday a group of veterans finished a bike ride from Wichita Falls to Corpus Christi which might have went on a route you could take. I did not search for their route nor have I seen a website with the route. There several bike clubs along the route: Fort Worth Bicycling Association, Waco Bicycling Club and several in Austin that might have route information. Also crazyguyonabike.com: Bicycle Touring: A place for bicycle tourists and their journals probably has a journal of somebody that did a ride. A couple of months ago a biker rode from the Oklahoma state line to the Rio Grande Valley but I don't remember his route specifics but it was west of Fort Worth.

Here's my route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/177984
It's designed to savor the beautiful Texas countryside and camp every night at a State Park or lake. It's routed down paved county roads, with a few miles here and there on Farm to Markets.
You said 'touring', but if you jones riding down the access road next to the Interstate, or want to set a new point to point record, this route isn't for you.
Anyway, from this route I suppose you could cut off @ Inks Lake and ride down the Colorado River valley to Austin.
