Joe's just got the 411 that it's not going to be the coast of cali that falls off into the ocean, just that the state is going to split in two across its width and be seperated by a vast inland sea. Nothing to worry about.

In any case, us Texans are far more friendly and can get along better with our neighbors.

The ones to the south maybe, as they gave us tacos and Negro Modelo, the ones to the north, no chance Amigo, crimson and cream nauseates me.

You have one NHL team. California has three. Thus, separate forums.

No fair moving post from 2005 into your newly created forum and then bragging about it. And it is really rude to stick your tongue out at me.

TX constitution apparently states it can secede from the US and split into 7 separate states. It may claim to be the biggest of the lower 48 but driving 800+ miles across TX is b-o-r-i-n-g!

I would love to see written proof of the ability of state to split. I have heard that since I was a child, but can find no written proof. If you know of an official document that gives Texas that ability, please let me know about it. Yeah, driving across Texas north to south or east to west is a long haul, esp. to people from the Northeast, who are not used to travel on our scale.

Texas was never a territory, it was for nine years a sovereign nation, hence the legalities of Texas statehood are similar in some respects to the original 13 colonies. The Treaty of Annexation provided that the state could, of its own accord, split itself into four more states for a total of five. This was contained in the treaty. Following on the Spanish-French treaties which had been negotiated prior to the Louisiana purchase the land claimed by Texas extended all the way into southern Wyoming, including everything east of the Rio Grande River.

Anyway, for those who doubt, see this link; https://www.lsjunction.com/docs/annex.htm

Third, New States, of convenient size, not exceeding four in number, in addition to said State of Texas, and having sufficient population, may hereafter, by the consent of the said State, be formed out of the territory thereof, which shall be entitled to admission under the provisions of the federal constitution. And as such States as may be formed out of that portion of said territory lying south of thirty-six degrees thirty minutes north latitude, commonly known as the Missouri compromise line, shall be admitted to the Union with or without slavery, as the people of each State asking permission may desire. And in such State or States as shall be formed north of said Missouri compromise line, slavery, or involuntary servitude, (except for crime) shall be prohibited.

California was breifly a republic, I believe. Rebels claimed independence briefly from Mexico before the US gave it admittance. Seems it was independent like only a month or two? Was not Hawaii an independent country.
Many would not object if Texas did secede.

We need a Texas forum... I shall rule (I mean peacefully post) it with an iron (I mean share with my fellow Texans) fist!

Who here's in favor of a "Who is where this weekend?" threads to post the up coming weekend's plans for Dallas, Austin, etc area club, organized rides, etc? Of course major organized rides (HHH, Wurst Ride, etc) would deserve their own thread, but it would be great for posting that I'm headed to this ride or that so BF members could meet up at local rides throughout the year.

Just a thought, I've had it before, but with a margarita and a jamaican surfer (Coconut Rum, Triple Sec and pineapple juice) in me, it sounds even better right now.....

I though this was the Texas regional group---New Mexico,Az,Ok,were just smart enough not to get put in the Ca regional group! And besides I like New Mexico. So what's wrong with them Texas neighbors of ours telling us about their great rides. -----some of ya'll are just down right un-neighbor-ly,hell that's un-Texan!

These other states you speak of, intrigue me, do tell more. What are they called? Are they close to Texas? Why have I never been told of them before?

Once I get home, put the bike up, let the dog out, and then drink a Lone Star beer.... I'll second the idea.

One day there should be a Texas meet up. Road and or MTb...

I know where there is a 20 mile trail west of Fort Worth that NO ONE except me and one other guy ever uses. Have considered an invite for the DFW and southern Oklahoma folks for a Saturday ride. Still mulling the idea in my mind.
