Bikeforums Dallas ride this saturday
Ive been talkiing to cuda2k, and we're thinking this saturday would be a great day for
all the BF'ers to take in a ride. Appx 33miles as Cuda estimates. We'll meet at Richardson Bike Mart on Campbell and begin the ride at high noon. Please let us know if you'd like to come. |
Route will be from RBM in Richardson, down to White Rock Lake via surface streets and the White Rock Creek trail. One lap around the lake, and then back to RBM.
I'll be riding the Barracuda Mk.I (see sig for pics), and I'll likely ride over from my apartment near by. If the weather permits (and it should) I'll be in my BikeForums jersey. |
I am in
|
Maybe in.
|
I'm doing the 34 miler sat morning but would be up for a few more if it's a slower pace than the morning ride.
|
Yeah, we'll be taking it easy. I'll be on the Barracuda so I'll be looking at an avg around 17ish or lower.
|
Sorry guys but I will be doing a club ride Saturday morning. I prefer to be making it home by noon instead of leaving. Y'all have fun!!!
|
Hey all, sorry for the thread hijack, but since I have a bunch of Texans here, please see this thread...
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=252753 Cuda - I was actually tempted to drive up for the ride. When are you guys coming down for a little hill action? :D |

No worries Kevin - I haven't been on the bike much lately and probably don't scoot all that fast right now - down, up or anything else. :) I have a 12-27 on right now though not by design. I needed to replace my cassette and I happened to have this one laying around. I'd prefer a 12-25. Tonight is hill night, as a matter of fact. Yay. ;)

Ravenmore, come on up. There's a couple short hills around White Rock that I like to take to get the heart up, but we don't have any extended climbs around here. I'm under the weather right now, but hope to shake it by the weekend. I'll be in SoCal over Christmas, but hopefully some time next spring I'll get a chance to make it down to Austin.
|
After riding in Austin, I don't think those short hills at Whiterock Lake would even phase any seasoned Austin cyclist.

I lived in Dallas for 10 years in the Knox/McKinney area and used to ride over to White Rock and back. I have to admit that once you tackle the tougher stuff here there's nothing Dallas can throw at you that will remotely intimidate you. I love Dallas though and getting lost on the country roads out to the north was one of my favorite things to do in college (went to N. Texas for a year). I don't prefer to think of it as better, or worse, just different. Trust me, there are days when I get ticked at the hills and the fact there's always "one more" when sometimes all you want to do is get home. Tonight was a good example. It started out at 74 degrees, but while I was out it dropped 20 to 25 degrees to about 50 degrees or so. I was miserable and wanted nothing more but to get home asap. But no, there were 3 or 4 12+ degree climbs involved in getting home. Sigh. Well, at least it helped warm me up a little.
I kind of have an obligation now on Saturday so I'm stuck here. I'll try to come up there in the next month though and maybe we can all go put in some miles? |

Noon? time is a bit late atmo. I have to check with SWMBO to see what we
have planned. I do know she wants to go out and ride, but thats usually a shorter slower pace ;) if we do Jan ride can we make it earlier? marty |

Nice to hear that, thanks for the heads up on the Sachse police. If the ride time is moved up, I may have to miss, I as have made plans for Sat morning with the wife and we have already arranged for a baby sitter. If time is going to change, let me know ASAP so I can try to change plans. Either route is fine with me.

I opted for 11am-noon because I've got a holiday party with the office Friday night. However I've come down with a head cold and may or may not make it to the party and/or the ride. I'll see how I feel in another 24-36hrs.

Alka seltzer plus cold medicine is the best thing I have found for beating this stuff. Sudafed is great if you have that sinus pressure headache.

Ill lead the ride if cuda2k is too sick.
regardless: Everyone please have your I.C.E. numbers in your cell phone, and health insurance card easy to find in your wallet in case you get run over. |
