Recommend a good (scenic?) place to ride in North Texas.

I'm going for a trip to Wichita Falls on March 22-23rd, after that I'm free for the next 2 days (its a weekend). I'm bringing my Bicycle with me. So, the obvious question is.....any suggestions for some nice places to ride in North Texas?
    Thanks!

If you come to Dallas, the White Rock Lake trail is nice and there are some nice bike shops to hit.

White Rock Lake is nicer than the creek trail. Though if you want to get a nice 30mi route, you can start at Richardson Bike Mart, ride down to the creek trail which leads to the lake, do a loop around the lake, and then back to the shop. I'm a stones throw from RBM, and jsharr isn't far either. So we can certainly get a group together to ride when you're in town.

RBM also has rides each Saturday morning ranging from 12-54mi, and there's also PBA that starts out from this area and heads out to the rural areas north east of dallas. All in all some great riding no matter how you do it.

HEY! Just realized I was wrong on the date of one of the rides east of Dallas called Spring Fever in Sulphur Springs. Looks like I'll likely be out there Saturday the 24th for that ride (thought it was the following weekend). I could still likely do a shorter ride on Sunday though.

    Thanks for all the responses!
' sorry for not being clear, its road cycling I'm into. Leisurely rides only, no racing (' too old for that).

cuda2k, thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that. I don't ride fast, though. I don't want to slow you guys down and ruin your ride.

If there are anymore suggestions please keep it coming.

Austin is another place I want to check out for nice rides. Any good places to ride in Austin?

If you don't want to go clear to dallas there are lots of scenic roads anywhere from Decatur up to the Red River. I really like the area around Forestburg on up to Saint Jo, no traffic, just rolling hills through the country.

I'm no racer either, usually this time of the year my avg speeds are around 16-17mph. Spring Fever was a great ride last year, and while Sulphur Springs is a bit of a drive out of Dallas its worth the trip.

shooter - I may have to come up your way and ride out there with you some time soon. Sounds like a great area as well!

After Corpus Christi you may want some hills.

On your way home, retreat south from Wichita Falls on Highway 291 about 30 or 40 miles to FM 1191, turn south on 1191 until you reach the small town of Bryson. You can park there on the main street and saddle up.

You can ride 1191 south from Bryson and then around the east side of Possum Kingdom on Hwy 16 all the way to 180. Park road 33 around west side of PK has some great hill country.

Hwy 16 , Graford to Mineral Wells, will offer some huge views of the Brazos River valley as well as three huge climbs in 10 miles.

Most anything between Hwy 380 and I-20 in Jack-Young-Palo Pinto county area will have some views and hills. Traffic would be considered very light by most people's standards.
