TexMex

What local DFW places around here do you guys like going to? I haven't had texmex in a while, and want to check out something new. Uncle Julios in addison and Chuys is pretty good. I've been to On the Border too much. There is this place called Rios on the southwest side of Preston/Royal that is very good. Fernandos on Northwest Highway and Midway is nice too. Now I want chips and queso.

Abuelos in Arlington off of i20 by the mall is very good, but kinda pricy.

Beto's in Grand Prairie off i20 and Great Southwest parkway is good as well, and cheaper than Abuelo's.

Discovered a new place that's a chain, Cristina's (Fine Mexican). It seems they don't have their own website, but they are all over the place. They tend to have a patio where we can sit outside and watch our bikes (and show off and talk about and admire) when we have another TXBF Get Together.

<editted> Just Sayin' we oughta have another.

You guys suck. The "TexMex" up here in New England is....well it's not. Let's just say that.

I can't wait until August when I am back in Texas.

Yeah! Anyplace Mat Martinez runs! So what day of the week (not on the weekend) are we available (in the DALLAS County area) to get together? As far as I'm concerned, any day, the place should have a patio and good margaritas (not from a mix ).

Definitely get some homemade, hot, fresh flour tortillas when you go! I'd stick with the traditional Mexican entrees over the Tex-Mex stuff here, though. The fajitas weren't stellar, and the Tex-Mex combo plate I had last (enchiladas, chile relleno, rice/beans) was all right, but the shredded marinated pork entree (name escapes me at the moment) was fantastic! The next time Cuda and I go, we're going to try the tamales and sopapillas.

Fort Worth: Joe T. Garcias, El Rancho Grande

Multiple Locations: Pappasitos, Mexican Inn

Have you been to Gloria's in Colleyville? It is more South American (El Salvador), excellent food.

My favorites anyway!

Been to Joe T's once, friend and co-worker make the trek out there from McKinney on a regular (weekly?) basis. I believe there are other Gloria's around, but can't remember exactly where. (Addison, that's right, knew I'd seen one around). Haven't tried the others either... but always looking for an excuse for TexMex or Mexican, or Texan (BBQ?) for that matter.

The first Glorias I went to was up in addison at belt line and the tollway...somewhere over there. But yeah I've been to the Cville one oh around 2 years ago. I thought it was really good, but for some reason no one in my family wants to go there again heh. I like the bean dip.

Plano - Luna De Noche, Preston and Plano Parkway NW Corner. One of my favs. A bit upscale, but really good.

Frisco - La Hacienda Ranch for fajitas rocks, Cantina Laredo and Gloria's is also great.

Addison - I'm partial to Blue Goose and Cantina Laredo

Dallas - Countless. Depends on where you are.

YES, Luna de noche, I went to that location with my mom when I was freshman in HS 2 years ago. It was maybe 10:30pm, and it was very dim inside, but the music they played was like a really cool trance/electronic kind..I think one song was Sadeness by Enigma, and it was pretty loud, which made that night even more excellent in there...and it's nice that the ceiling has the starts and a moon-from what I remember.

Los Lupes on Industrial is a favorite lunch spot for me. 5.99 all you can eat buffet

Another good one is Ojeada's on Maple. It's been a while & I'm not too sure if they are still open. Or the one on 75 in Plano

I forgot about Abuelo's! Very good food, a little pricier than most TexMex places, but the papas con chile (essentially mashed potatoes with cheese and chilies, quite mild) are quite delicious.

You guys could come to Fort Worth and we could do some Joe T.'s. They have redone the area around the pool (see gallery pics on the website above), however, I'm always willing to come to the Big D as well.

Joe T's would be good if we go on a weekday after traffic dies down, and if we could get a table for all of us without a 3hr wait!

That place sounds familiar with the pool. I think I may have been there when I was little.
