Hi all.

I am new to cycling. I just got a road bike a month or so ago. Although due to the rain have not rode it too much. I had been doing 16 to 20 miles twice a week. I live in Grand Prairie. Any suggestions on a good place to ride?

Thanks Jesse

Welcome to the fourms. Seems like everytime I touch a bike lately, I cause it to rain.

Welcome, there are some great rides at Joe Pool lake, which is very close to you. I think they have a Tues/Thurs ride with varying paces.

Copied:

Ride with the Rusty Chain Gang through the beautiful Lake Ridge development, through Britton, toward Mansfield, then back to the marina for rides of 26 or 32 miles (longer routes are available). All types of cyclists are welcome. We travel slow and stop often, and have lunch at the Oasis after the ride.

crdean1 I lam about 5 minutes from the oasis, so that would be perfect. I am going to start rideing a traail over off matlock in arlington that winds back through grand prairie to see where it goes, and how far.
I have riddes at the river legacy park on green oaks a few times about a 14-20 mile ride. rode it 2 times a week till started raining.
Looking forward to meeting you guys and getting into the sport.

Here's a list of the Grand Prairie parks:
https://www.grandfungp.com/parks/parkslist.htm

Lots of them have nice wide paved paths to ride on. Link park, mentioned as under construction in the list, was recently finished.

I live in GP too. Welcome

I have not picked up a helmet as of yet. Is it a law that I have to wear one? I will get one next couple of days , but if I ride I dont want to get in trouble for not having one.
