    retro friendly shops in Dallas

Does anyone know of any retro grouch friendly shops in the Dallas area? My road bike is a 1988 model and no shops near me had a simple recessed seat post binder bolt! I asked an employee if he knew of any shops in Dallas that was friendly (as in stock) to people with older bicycles. He went on this tirade that there are none because people in Dallas only care about looking rich and blingy (he moved here from Austin), so there is not a market for it. There must be, because as many bike racks I see on cars here (1 in 5 or so), there's got to be some people who like older stuff. Anyway, anyone know of a shop in Dallas that would have some older bike parts?

Richardson Bikemart (at least the Frisco and Richardson locations) will happily work on vintage bikes. There is also Bicycle Exchange in Carrollton which specalizes in older gear along with some new stuff.

I too have had some trouble finding a recessed bolt for my Serotta though. I ended up buying one from Loosescrews.com, but got the wrong length. Next order I'll get the next size down and be good.

Good luck finding one local, if you do, let me know!

Thanks, y'all. I hadn't heard of Trinity and I completely forgot about Richardson Bike Mart.

+1 on Trinity. They do a lot of vintage, etc.

If you find a shop that has a supply of bolts, let me know. Thanks!

You might try Don Johles Bike World in Garland.
I ride an '83 road bike and have found stuff there for it.
    That's gonna leave a mark.

If Trinity didn't have it, I'd hit up Dallas Bike Works next. RBM would be a bit farther down the list.

I say go to RBM Richardson location and ask for Jack, he probably has exactly what
    you're looking for.
I've never had a problem with either Richardson or Frisco location, if they don't have a part
they'll do whatever it takes to locate one (if it's still available), and they are not
afraid to work on vintage bikes.
Your guy at your LBS is full of it, probably just P.O'd that the shop he is working in
    doesn't.

I made it up to Trinity (yay, right next to the TRE South Irving station). It's a great shop. They have some bolts there (Cuda2k). I got what I needed--and then some. My rear wheel was going bad (20 year old rim that is now warped), and after a little talking--and $90--I came home with a Velocity Deep V and Wheelsmith Spokes (double butted). After 2 hours of building, I've got a great new rear wheel again.

Also, kudos to Trinity to giving 10% discounts to those who don't drive to their shop. I'm car free--so I'll be using them a lot!

I also think you're right about the guy at that shop. I had visited 3 other shops, but he's prolly just upset that his shop doesn't carry older stuff.
