Charity Ride Season approaches...Which One is a Must Do For You?
Here is a good compellation of rides for the upcoming year:
https://www.bicycletexas.com/tx_bike_rides.htm
Which one(s) is/are on your list to do? Which have you done in the past with good experiences and would recommend to others?
For me Muenster Germanfest is a must do annually. Lots O hills with food, music and beer afterwards.
I think I will add The Wildflower Bike Ride. This one has a HUGE turnout but the festival is a tad pricey.
Ride for Heros is a great training ride with monster climbs and as if that was not hard enough they added a 100 mile distance this year

Oct. - Moonlight Ramble - a party on wheels. Great party before hand (we tailgate), then a quick sprint, or a leasurely ride short enough to convince anyone to ride .
March 1st I think - Gator Ride - Never done it, but have been told good things. Already signed up.
Late in the year - Bike Around the Bay - would like to do it... dunno yet.
mid summer? - HHH - Another would like to do. It's on my list, maybe not this year... dunno.
Completed: Frost bike... I'll be back next year... with longer sleeves and tights.

Loblolly Liberator in Nacogdoches late March, maybe HTH, most definitely Pineywoods Purgatory at Lufkin this fall.

my first will probably be Spring Fever. Late march should be about the right time for me to get out for my next long ride. After that I WILL make Tour de Cypress this year. Missed it the last two years due to one reason or another and since it goes through some old stomping grounds for me I want to get out there. After that I'll likely do Paris again, HHH of course. If I am feeling strong early enough I'll look at some with more climbing as well to give a new challenge.

It was a very well staffed and organized ride. Roads were decent for east texas, not too long of a drive and just an enjoyable ride.

the negative side of getting a job at my lbs is since we are a small shop and we SAG most of these rides I have to work on pretty much every one of the saturdays so I doubt I will even get to go on any

Tour d'Italia Also a easy drive to get to. This will be my third time. Last year it rained, and very few people came. Haven't ridden in the rain like that before, I still loved it.

Bob trailer full of tools, and you have an instant mobile repair station. Ride and work

It's a ways down there, but that Kingsville ride sounds like fun. That country is pretty much flat as a pancake, lots of nothing (unlike Dallas area), very little traffic on a lot of roads in the area- I was down there a while back on business.

Thinking about the Hotter 'n Hell Hundred, but I'm hearing that lodging may already be tight. I might be able to stay with a relative near Denton--would it work to do that, and get up really early to drive the rest of the way to Wichita Falls?

Heck, I'm planning to drive up from Garland for it. Maybe not a fun way to start the day, but can be done. I've gone on hiking trips before where I hit the trailhead at 3:00 AM, so it won't be that bad.

Considering Shiner BASH / GASP again. I mean, c'mon, it's Shiner.
Probably will do Wildflower, simply because it start/finishes a 5 minute pedal from the house. But the roads are "meh." This year i'll start at the front and not get caught waiting for my bud to take pic's with his office team, so I don't have to blow past 8 million ladies on hybrids in the first couple of miles.
Thinking about the wildflower tour that GDB does in Lancaster/Sunnyvale, sounds nice.
Probably do Muenster, fun course, big hills, and beer. (see a pattern here?)
Tyler got cancelled but I'll probably get in a couple of day trips just to ride the area anyway.
HHH... NFW.

Creakyknees what is the deal with the Shiner Bash? You ride there then take a bus back or something? How is the festival/party?
