N.Dallas / Plano area July 4th ride?
Approx 40mi, approx 16.5-17mph avg pace. Who's interested?
Location & Time: RBM Richardson @ 8am
There is two groups leaving from RBM Richardson Friday morning. One will be doing about 17mph pace, other is going to be 19-20 most likely. You've been warned.

The morning of July 4th, I'll be riding in a parade in Arlington at about 2 mph.

first post updated with information. The Plano Bicycle Association will have 2 or 3 groups leaving from the parking lot of RBM at 8am on Friday morning. There will be the fast group (19-20+mph for 57mi most likely), and the "Distance Builder" group(s). If there are two groups, then there will likely be a 40ish @ 16-16.5 and a 50ish @ 17-17.5, if there is but one group, well, stay tuned.
For anyone considering a slower group, RBM is also a good place to start / end a trip down to white rock lake. From RBM down to the lake and back with one lap around the lake will give you about 35mi. I can make a route map on mapmyride for anyone who wants to head that up.

For anyone wanting to do a slow (and/or solo) ride down to white rock, here's the best route down to the trail head: https://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united...s/237751499891
The 'Distance Builder' group route yet to be determined. Likely will be the 38 RBM route, an out-and-back route.

I'm into the <16 ride to WRL. Gather at 8am, leave after the cheetahs and gazelles? Haven't printed up or even had a chance to check out Jon's route, but will today. Bringing my Univega. And half-frozen camelback!

Last time I was down to the trail head, the park there was closed. There's a couple of different ways around, Hillcrest probably the best and easiest way, and a 8am on a holiday there won't be much traffic around there. Just FYI if you get down there and its all fenced off still.

I rode White Rock Creek/ Lake Trail last Sunday afternoon. The trail has been open from Valley View down to 635 for a while, although there were "closed" sigsn on it- it was clear, and everyone rode through anyway. But those "closed" signs are now gone. There were 2 spots in that stretch with minor construction, so don't whoop up too much speed. Rest of the way down to and around the lake was in good shape. A lot of the trail that was closed on the west side of the lake is now usable, with people on it, although there was a barricade still up. But they still had one lane of the road as a trail, too, so it's in great shape for riding. Y'all enjoy.
PS, Now that I think about it, there were a few spots down south of 635 where the side of the sidewalk was busted off- beware as you're riding.

once you get on meandering way it's hard to get lost. just make the right on Peyton, to till it dead ends and you're at the trail head. From there just follow the trail. Jim's been down there a couple times it sounds so you'll be in good hands. I'll be there, riding over from my apartment. Look for me in my Texas Bike Forums jersey on the red Serotta.

man, that khs is sexxxy!
and a 48x16 gear would probably feel better for a longer ride. that's my gearing and it's pretty comfy.
i would love to go, but we're having a garage sale in the morning at 8am.
would the slower group be willing to meet on sunday morning at rbm?!
i wanna meet some people and ride!

You Know!? For Kids!
i will probably be there for the slow ride depending on how the cold I am fighting is doing in the AM. Might also be available for a Sunday ride happyrobot, et. al.
Most likely gonna be in BF Texas jersey and on the Falcon.

Sorry about missing this one. Woke up late. Took the boys for a ride instead. Pulling a trailer is not fun. Anyone doing a ride on Sunday?

Well, made it back from the parade. The 2 mph hour figure was apparently overly optimistic, and while riding, one of the pedals stripped out of the crank arm on my unicycle. Not good. Grrrr. Otherwise was a fun day.
