Just FYI, the LoneStar Randonneurs are hosting a 100K Populaire ride that same morning for anyone that wants to check out Rando riding. No membership required, just show up and ride. Details at www.lonestarrandon.org.

On the Superbowl Sunday ride, do people just ride to West End and then spend the day watching the game? I remember them having some other event where people rode in from all over like that.

I'm sure I'll be out riding in the afternoon.

That's also the day of the Bike Friendly Oak Cliff ride. We will be tracing Lee Harvey Oswalds steps through downtown and Oak Cliff. It's a very casual ride. So far over 60 people have signed up to ride, we hope some of you will come out too.

you don't have to sign up or be a member for the gdb ride.
i just like the route they take.
once you meet up at the west end with thousands of other cyclists, you're on your own.
it's up to you to find your way back.

You don't have to sign up for the Oak Cliff ride either. There's a facebook page on which people have RSVP'd.

And you can do both rides if you want. The GDB ride is in the morning. The Oak Cliff ride is at 2:30pm.

Great Ride

I went on the Oak Cliff ride today, and it was great! There must have been over 150 bicyclists of all types. Beautiful weather and very nice people.

That Oak Cliff ride sounded interesting, but I needed to be here earlier, and it looked like the only way I could work that would be to drive to downtown, ride the ride, then drive back- but that'd only be 10 miles or so? Anyway, I just went riding on Bike Route 280, went from the Mesquite city limit over to Love Field, and had a nice afternoon of it. Saw quite a few other bikes out, I assume from the Superbowl riders going home.

Today it was like the whole city exploded with bicyclists. I got up late and threw the bike on the rack and drove to White Rock Lake about noon. Close to my house I saw a large herd of roadies going down Hampton Rd at Kiest. The lake had lots of bikers out there. On the way home I went through downtown which had several bikers going all up and down the streets (downtown is cool to bicycle on Sundays). I musta caught up with the Oak Cliff bunch as I was crossing the Zang/Marsalis bridge 'cause there was at least a hundred of them. I drove along at the very back and noted a biker airing up his tire. I pulled over and asked if he was ok and he said "Yep" got back on his bike and rode up the bridge.
These bikers had numbers on them, was registration required then or was this another group?

The Oak Cliff ride was great, sorry some of you missed it. It was covered by the Morning news, channel 33 and channel 11.

Bike Friendly Oak Cliff did a great job of getting the word out, thanks Jason Roberts and crew.
Weather permitting there will be a Mardi Gras ride, and there's talk of a historic Bonnie and Clyde ride.

I was there on my fixie. Rode in from Frisco with the Bike Mart clan and put in around 60 miles round trip. Not a bad route, just wished I had more time to include a lap of WRL as well. Saw a lot of friends and had a great time.
