Lone Star Randonneurs has a brevet leaving out from Italy at 5:00 AM. I'll be there for that. Don't know that I'll see any of the Tour de Italia riders, though.
"be careful this rando stuff is addictive and dan's the 'pusher'."

I signed up, but my doc has forbade me riding the bike right now. I may be there anyway, against medical advice...

Wish I could have gone...I like it.
I've got a granny gear, and I'm not afraid to use it!

It wound up being a really good ride I thought. There were quite a few people there and definately some wind to contend with but nothing too bad and the temperature was about right. Hope everyone else had as great of a time as I!

Thanks for coming down to Italy! We had about 1200 riders, about average for the ride. We let the police handle the parking this year. How did that go? I was so busy before the ride I didn't get a chance to chat with anyone. I was in charge of rest stops this year-hope those were OK too!

Parking went smooth for us. We drove straight to a spot about an hour before the ride! You guys did well with that and also the rest stops were all well stocked! Nice change as I have been on rides where they run out of obvious stuff like liquids fruit... You guys did great!

Since my doc has forbibben me from riding, I only did the 30 mile route.
It was a great ride, and I loved the one long downhill (hit 43 mph, and sustained 30-32 mph for about 2 miles). I cannot wait for next year to come back for the metric century.

I didn't like the open start, it felt like it was a huge mess. A bunch of slow riders started riding before my group started and it was a hassle to avoid them. Also, it felt like 80% of the road was chipped, not really a problem but most rides I've done try to keep the chips out as much as possible.

After riding in Dublin the week prior, the chipseal on this route felt as smooth as glass.

Unfortunately, chip is one of those things that is next to impossible to avoid in rural Texas.
