Do we need another cycling club in N Texas?
I was wondering, would anyone be interested in joining ALF (Allen,Lucas,Fairview) cyling club if we started one?
I see PBA all over Allen, Lucus and Fairview. I'm still a PBA memeber but I can't see any point in driving to Plano so I can cycle back to my neighborhood. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

pathdoc, I've actually been thinking the same thing lately. Especially for a Sunday mornings when I want to go out and do 25-35mi in the morning before it gets hot.

I figured you may see the same way I do. I thought ALF was catchy but we could include McKinney and call it MALF. Just concepts at this point. If it was ALF we could use the ALF character as kind of a mascot and build up a jersey concept using this. Again, very early but I'd be willing to use my home for meetings and such.

The concept I like, especially with the swelling numbers of the PBA rides, it may be a welcome addition to the area to have a second club to take some of the strain off the PBA in terms of ride size numbers. I've come up with a couple of routes starting from the Celebration Park area that any possible Allen area club would be welcome to use.
The Alf mascot may need some revision, but that's just my $.02.

You could go with Lucas, Allen, Murphy, Parker and call it LAMP.
I love Lamp.
EDIT: I meant to type Parker earlier and had brain fade while looking for the video

If it wouldn't get confused with the American Airline's Center I would suggest "Allen Area Cyclists" or AAC.

Hey Lotek,
I'm sure there's lots of great riding out in Frisco. Of course anyone interested will be invited to join. There are a tons of good places to ride just north of Allen/Fairview. I would like to see an option for those wishing to start rides from Celebration Park in Allen.

When someone asks, who are you riding with this weekend?, you say the Red Army. I like it. Way cool.

I like the idea. I too have a hard time justifying driving into Plano just to ride back by my house.
Collin County Cycling Project has a neat 70's rock sound to it, and ya gotta love the CCCP.
Of course there is something to be said for Chip Seal Cyclists too.

Well, technically I drive to the ride start, ride to my house, then ride back to the ride start.Starting at Celebration park is maybe a 9 mile ride from my house, so that works.

So what's the next step? Try to organize a first meeting or just starting riding together and see what happens?
