Tour de Pink

Anyone riding the TdP this year? Last year it was a great ride. They have a fantastic feed at the end of the ride. The Tour de Pink starts in Hempstead and travels on some really nice roads. The ride is on Sunday, September 13, 2009 and maybe it will be cooler by then.

I'll be there and am planning for the 100 miler. When will course maps be posted? I train in the flattest part of the state and don't know too much about Prairie View. I suspect there will be small, rolling hills but would like to see a map of the course.

Send me your personal e-mail and I can send you last year’s map. It will be the same for the most part, Just a few minor changes. It is a flat course. Just a few small hills nothing more. The only issue I have ever had is with wind. If it is strong that day there is nothing to block it so it can be rough.

Thanks for joining in on this ride. It's a great ride for a great cause.

It constantly burns me up that the MS society went from red to orange as their colors a few years back. I still refuse to wear the orange wristband (still have some of the red ones left), and when I wear my "I have MS, thats why I ride" jersey that is orange and white, I always have to balance it with aggie socks just so nobody thinks I am a teasip...

Yea, I hear ya. I cant wear my green jersey cause I don't want anyone thinking I went to Baylor, or my black and gold one cause I would just die if somebody thought I attended Missouri or Colorado, oh crap my bike is black and red no doubt I'll be mistaken for a Red Raider. God forbid I wear my red jersey, I'll surely be tagged as a U of H alum.

Jeeeeeeze, you guys never cease to amaze me.

You'll be able to find me easily; I'll be donning the red jersey in front of all of you wearing the orange or maroon, sucking wind attempting to stay on my wheel.

Sarge :-)

Howdy ags! tsip orange is a pretty UGLY color, froggmann.
FIFY 88.

Froggmann, the problem with tsip orange is that it is an ugly enough color that typically only somebody who liked tu would get caught dead wearing it. So if people see you in it, they assume you are a tsip. The same can't be said for green, yellow, red, maroon, black, gold, etc. Face it...y'all just have some butt ugly colors for your school and the rest of us really don't want to be associated with it.

Yep, I will agree with ya'll that burnt orange is very distinctive (probably by design) and that only people that are associated with or are fans of the University of Texas like. Also, I would never expect any aggie to don burnt orange anything. But the orange logo and silicone bracelets of the National MS Society are not burnt orange. I know this because I am a 10 year veteran of the Houston to Austin MS 150 and have ridden the San Antonio to Corpus MS 150 three times. I have given away over one hundred of the orange bracelets to sponsors and not one of them were burnt orange, nor is the jersey you mentioned in an earlier post. In fact the MS orange is way closer to the University of Tennessee orange than it is to burnt orange. So I really don't understand your problem. The fact is that nobody but ya'll give a crap. I've worked for a company for the last 12 years who's color is maroon (no, it is not owned or managed by aggies). I wear a maroon golf shirt to work everyday and drive a maroon company car and in those 12 years not one person has asked me if I am an aggie. Just like nobody will care on you next charity ride if you have on a orange bracelet or a jersey with a big orange MS on it. But you might just raise some AWARENESS about the disease you are unfortunately battling.

Godspeed txags92 maybe I'll see ya out there, I'll be the one in the UT jersey

froggmann,

First of all, thanks for all the riding and fundraising. I mean that very sincerely. Second, I guess it doesn't translate very well through written words, but I meant most of what I was saying above in a very tongue in cheek good natured ribbing kind of way. I have a bunch of tsip friends and we are always giving each other a hard time but have alot of respect for each other at the end of the day. Do I not wear the orange band...yes...but only because I still have some of the red ones around. Do I wear my orange and white "I have MS" jersey proudly? Of course...but I do still wear my aggie socks with it just in case. As for this ride, maybe I will see you out there...I will be in a Mustang Wood Group jersey if I ride.

Woody 2926, I may have my oldests sons Cannondale you can borrow. That is only if he and/or my wife decides not to ride the event. Let me check and see what they are doing. I'll let you know.
