Tour de Cure Houston
It's happening Sept 19th this year. It's almost like flying under the radar. I'm thinking I really wanna ride this one, but I'm not sure of I can raise the cash or how far I can go by then.
Ya see, on July 30th I woke up that morning with my entire left side numb. Knowing that it wasn't normal and wouldn't "just go away", I got myself down to the V.A. hospital here in Houston. Long story short, I had a TIA stroke, very high blood pressure, and I noticed that about mid way through my 5 day stay they started pricking my fingers, taking readings, then coming back a few minutes later with insulin shots for me.
Good grief! It's like practically over night I went from Healthy Middle-Aged Man (TM) to Old Invalid Dude (TM) overnight.
I'm doing better now. I've been out of hospital nearly a week. Taking my meds religiously. Watching my intake and started riding my bike on a 1 mile back road loop in the neighborhood multiple laps for training. I have a diabetes class to go to at the V.A. tomorrow. I still have reminders of my "episode" . A little numbness to the face and legs, a feeling in my left hand like I'm wearing a gauntlet of sunburn up to the middle of my forearm.
Hopefully, you'll see me September 19th as a Red Rider.
Now I'm going to go ride 10 loops.
