I hope you can make it in from Houston. I just heard from a friend in Houston and he had to cancel due to a business trip.

The route around the lake is about 10 miles, give or take, plus a little for getting to the trail.

As far as rules regarding a classic, it's pretty loose. I know a couple of guys are bringing bikes that have been "altered", such as a Colnago with flat bars and no front derallieur. If you have specific questions please feel free to ask. We're not going to turn away anyone. If it's too new of a bike, we can always set up an area behind the restrooms.

Last year I suggested that if anyone wanted to bring a late model bike, they could, as long as they brought some dessert. That worked out pretty well!!

Right now we have about 35 RSVP's and several who MAY attend. Last year it worked out to where about the number of people who didn't show up offset the number of people who attended without an RSVP. It worked out pretty well with the food situation. Also last year I talked to several people who were just riding by on their vintage bikes and saw the old bike mob and stopped.

In. Where does one park? I won't be riding over from Funkytown and the rail doesn't run on Sunday. A map link would be a big help.

Forecast is for rain. Is this a rain or shine event?

Right now there's a chance of scattered storms. The Old Farmer's Almanac was calling for cool and sunny with chance of rain to the north. They're 80% accurate on their long range forecast so we'll see what happens. Unless it just a deluge, we'll be there grilling some dogs and hanging out. If it turns out to be a wash-out, we might have a grill day at my workshop.

Crossing my fingers for good weather! Due to the weather uncertainty, I'll be playing it by ear as far as any additional riding to/from the picnic. I may start from Richardson Bike Mart or somewhere similar.

David, I don't think the Almanac was counting on the jet stream dumping a tropical depression on us.

Hey guys and girls,

A quick update on the Retro Ride & Picnic for tomorrow.

The picnic is still on, weather or not (get it?!) Of the over fifty people
who have RSVP'd, most have said they are still planning on attending. Many,
but not all, have said they are still bringing their bikes. Even if you
don't bring a bike, please feel free to attend. We have rented the
pavilion, and it's big enough to have host a lot of people. We still plan
on grilling some hot dogs and having a picnic. If it's a complete wash-out
we can plan on having a get-together at the workshop in the near future.
Just let me know what you think about that.

The information is still posted on the web page:
www.southwestframeworks.com

Still hoping for a dry day,
David

Does anyone ever use AccuWeather.com? I've heard it's more accurate than Weather.com...

Here's their forcast:

From looking at the Regional weather radar on www.wfaa.com, it looks as if we're in the tail-end of a storm system that's about to finish passing through. The back edge of it is at the Tarrant/Dallas county line, and there's nothing West of it heading this way.

So I'm thinking the roads will be wet, and it'll be chilly, but it won't be raining. I'm still planning on being there with the Colnago, unless David calls it off.

Hey guys,

I think we're good to go. It'll be a little wet, but we're still planning on being there.

The wife has backed out, but I'm still in. Colnago just needs air in the tires & it's ready to go. I'll be loading up and heading out soon.

WFAA's radar shows a storm passing over now, but it again looks clear behind it. I'd guess that it should be clear come ride time.

Thanks to all who showed up yesterday. The weather wasn't really as bad as they had predicted. Near the end it had pretty much stopped raining enough for an outside group picture. Although I don't have a count, I believe there weren't as many people as last year, but there may have been more bikes. I know several people brought two, and one brought three. There were some very nice bikes on display. There was also a group from Austin, who had some really nice cruisers. One from that group is now in possession of what may very well be the worlds ugliest jersey. That'll teach her to show up at one of our events! Don't worry, we have pictures to verify the ugliness involved.

Anyway, I think all who showed up had a nice time. Although several riders rode to the event, we didn't get a ride in. Hopefully next time the weather will be better.

My good friend Tim was there shooting many (many, many) pictures of the bikes and people, and as soon as possible we'll post them in an on-line gallery.

If anyone who wasn't on the mailing list but wants to be for next year, just email to me and I'll put you on the list.

Sorry you had the date wrong, Mutt. I don't think we had a Paramount there this year, although we had several last year.

Again, thanks to all who attended, and we plan on doing it again next year.

David and Joanna

No, that wasn't me, but I seem to think I know someone who does have a fixed Look. I just can't think who it is right now.

Any pictures to see yet? I couldn't be there, was on the road returning from a vacation, but would love to see what everyone was riding and showing off! Not rushing you, just bored at work and looking for a fix!

There were some pretty nice bikes there. Many of the people who also came last year brought different bikes this year. I should have a bunch of pictures to post as soon as the photographer get they sorted out. When I get them I'll post them somewhere and give a link.

I would have loved to have made it, but 100 miles of driving to ride in the rain just sounded brutal.

Hey guys,

The other day Tim the photographer brought a cd with the photos on it. I tried posting them to Flicker, but there were too many of them to post without upgrading the service. I then tried posting them to my website, but am having trouble with adding to the gallery. So, I'm thinking about changing the gallery software to something that's a little easier to use. Any suggestions? I like the looks of the gallery I have now, but it's a pain (at lease for me) to work with. I need something that's user friendly. I'd also like a gallery on the blog that I'm about to start.
