Texas Custom Bicycle Show set for Oct 23-25 in Austin

This is just a heads up to put on your calendar. I'm helping to organize and promote the Texas Custom Bicycle Show with the founder, Glenn Thompson of Daltex Bikes. The exhibition will be a show within a show at the LiveStrong Challenge Expo in Austin Oct 23-25. There will be quite a few Austin builders as well as folks from around the state.

Here are the details or at the show site http://bikeframebuilding.blogspot.com/:
HAND BUILT BICYCLE MAKERS FROM AROUND THE LONE STAR STATE CONVERGE IN SECOND ANNUAL TEXAS CUSTOM BICYCLE SHOW, OCT 23-25
Custom Bike Show will operate as “show within a show” at the Livestrong Expo in Austin

Dallas, TX- Coming off a small but successful first year, the Texas Custom Bicycle Show is moving to Austin for its second year with double the number of exhibitors to be part of the Livestrong Expo at the Austin LiveStrong Challenge October 23-25.

“We are excited to provide a platform to show off locally made, high quality custom bikes at a great venue, the LiveStrong Challenge,” said Glenn Thompson, the organizer of the Texas Custom Bicycle Show and the owner and frame builder of Daltex Handmade Bicycles. “I was happy to be a part of the show in our successful first year and am please to see it grow in size and diversity.”

The show will feature custom builders from all over Texas with styles as diverse as road, mountain, city bikes, and track bikes built from steel, titanium, and carbon fiber. Each builder will have a booth at a section of the Expo reserved for the Texas Custom Bicycle Show with model bikes on display.

“Custom handbuilt bikes are a growing market and movement in Texas,” Thompson continued. “Custom not only offers bikes tailored to riders of any size but unique, one of a kind bikes that break the mass produced, import mold.”

The show will run concurrently with the LiveStrong Challenge Expo at the Austin Conventions Center, Friday October 23 Noon- 7 PM, Saturday, October 24, 9 AM- 1 PM, and at the LiveStrong Challenge Finish Line in Dripping Springs, Sunday, October 25, 8:30 AM- 5 PM. Confirmed builders are Alchemy, Crumpton Cycles, Daltex Handmade Bicycles, Dominion Bicycle Company, Gallus Cycles,Kirklee, Massengill Cycles, Southwest Frameworks, True Fabrication, and Violet Crown Cycles

More information and updates on the show are available at http://bikeframebuilding.blogspot.com/.

I forgot to mention the show is free, and we've set up a Facebook page for the show as well. Join as a fan if you want updates and pictures of bikes from the show.

I didn't get enough time to gawk at the show, but there was some top-quality bike porn there. Glad I went.
