Seen on the Preston Ridge Trail today

As were were riding the entire Preston Ridge Trail today we saw 5 red-tailed hawks at different points along the trail. It was amazing. They were hunting along several of the greenbelts and creeks. We saw lots of birds too.

I love the raptor migration time, there's one field near us that I've seen up to
8 hawks in at one time.
very nice photo.

I think this is evidence that the county/city efforts to create native habitats and greenbelts is paying off. I've seen hawks in north dallas before but it was always an isolated sighting. we saw 5 or so yesterday.

It seems the local population is way up, just in the past couple / few years.

I remember a few years back, out riding with the guys, they were rare enough that we'd stop and point every time we saw one.

Good news.
